Fathering, Mental Health & Society is a collaborative collection of reflections from South African men exploring what it means to be a father in today’s society. Edited by Thabang Tlaka, the book challenges the idea that fatherhood is defined solely by financial provision and calls men towards a more present, emotionally engaged and responsible form of parenting.
Drawing on different experiences and perspectives, the contributors reflect on the emotional, spiritual and developmental needs of children, the mental health of fathers, and the role men play within their families and communities. Anele Matshisi is one of the contributing authors, joining a diverse group of South African men in an honest and necessary conversation about fatherhood, identity, emotional wellbeing and presence.
This book is for fathers, future fathers, partners, families, community leaders and anyone interested in building a healthier culture of fatherhood in South Africa.
